Grand Valley Wood Products
At Grand Valley Wood Products, our 35+ years of experience has taught us the value of exceeding our customer's expectations. We combine the latest technology with craftsmanship to produce a superior product. We understand the value of integrity, quality, timeliness, and communication. We continually strive to refine our internal processes in an effort to achieve customer satisfaction.
Grand Valley Wood Products was originally formed in 1981. GVWP was built under the leadership of co-owners, Terry Idema and Tom Herman who owned the company from 1985 - 2013. In 2013, Tom Herman retired from the company, turning over daily operations to Shawn Hager. Shortly after Tom retired, Shawn and Terry became business partners. Shawn and Terry were co-owners together from, 2014-2018. At the end of 2018, Terry Idema retired from his day to day responsibilities and Shawn will be carrying the torch into the future. The future is bright for GVWP, as well as our sister companies across the parking lot; Surfaces of Michigan.
Shawn Hager (President/Owner) is deeply involved with the daily operations of GVWP, as well as Surfaces of Michigan. Shawn joined the GVWP team in 2012 after working in multiple roles in the custom trade show and museum business for 14 years.
Our commitment is to increase customer satisfaction as well as deepen our commitment to the employees who make the business run smoothly. We look forward to serving existing and new customers at a higher level for many years to come.
About our sister company
Grand Valley Wood Products, Inc. was formed in 1981 and became the parent company of Surfaces of Michigan. Specializing in commercial cabinets, an immediate need for a "premium" countertop was recognized. From that need, Creative Solid Surfaces was born and we became the first Corian fabricator in Western Michigan! As the market changed and a new demand for granite countertops surfaced, Sunstone Granite & Marble was formed! These two names have been DBA names under the legal name of Surfaces of Michigan since the start. In early 2020 we made the decision to close down our stone fabrication department and we have partnered with strong local stone shops to complete our commercial projects. We will continue to servicer both residential and commericial customers for their solid surface countertop needs but we will no longer be servicing the residential market for stone countertops.
